Despite being tangled with ongoing legal disputes with Twitter over a failed acquisition, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed interest in buying Manchester United. Musk, sent the football world into meltdown on Wednesday morning with just one sentence.
Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” he tweeted.
Musk however, later cleared it up by tweeting that he is not buying any football team adding that if at any moment he would be interested in buying any football team, then it would be Manchester United.
Musk’s deep pockets could potentially turn the team around after it only managed to come sixth last season, falling out of the qualifications for the UEFA Champions League. After a 4-0 loss to Brentford last weekend, Manchester United currently sits at the very bottom of the table with zero points and a five-goal deficit.
Manchester United is currently led by the six children of late American businessman Malcolm Glazer, who took a controlling stake in the franchise in 2005.The Glazers have refused to sell the club on multiple occasions in the past’- although the family is reportedly open to selling the team for roughly $5 billion USD.
