Netflix made it easy for users migrating to new accounts to do so, by introducing their new feature ‘Profile Transfer’. The new feature will allow users to keep the personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings — when they start their own membership.
The streaming platform also announced the date and price of its Ad-Supported Subscription Tier launch in mid October, a plan which will include between four to five minutes of ads per hour, with 15 and 30-second commercial slots.
Now, Netflix has announced that it will start charging password-sharing fees in early 2023. The news comes as Netflix attempts to return to growth and settle investors after confirming it lost subscribers earlier in the year.
Netflix will put an additional fee on top of the user’s monthly subscription price if they share the account’s password with those who do not live in the same house.
Regions where this will be first implemented has not yet been announced. The amount charged might amount to around $3 USD (Ksh.363.45)or $4 USD (Ksh.484.60)
Users who are ‘forced’ to get their own accounts can utilize ‘Profile Transfer’ for an easier shift.
