This week Alejandro Garnacho came on as a substitute for United against Villa in the 62nd minute. United were trailing by a goal and needed to turn things around. United’s number 49 had a hand in the outcome of the game which ended 4-2 bagging two assists in the process.
In Erik ten Hag’s words, “He will be a real addition to the team “ and they really need that.
Garnacho joined Manchester United’s youth system from AtlĂ©tico Madrid in October 2020 for ÂŁ420,000 and is a left winger by trade.
He won the FA Youth Cup and the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award in May 2022. The month before, he had made his first-team debut at the age of 17, in a Premier League game against Chelsea which just shows the quality he possesses.
Garnacho represented Spain at under-18 level, before making his debut for Argentina at under-20 level in 2022. He has been called-up to Argentina’s senior squad but hasn’t made an appearance.
As per Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, there has been a significant change in Alejandro Garnacho’s attitude since pre-season and he is now among the very first ones to train at Carrington.
Those familiar with the youngster describe him as a shy person off the pitch, very different from the confident player on the pitch. However, Erik Ten Hag is trying to keep a lid on the hype surrounding Garnacho, for instance, he still hasn’t been allowed to move into the first-team dressing-room at Carrington. Lisandro MartĂnez acts as his big brother.
According to sources, Alejandro Garnacho, who had requested a personalized program to grow physically, has developed impressively since joining the club, and the coaches are delighted with his rigor in the gym. In addition, he works with a personal nutritionist to have a good diet and is almost fluent in English after taking lessons.
Apparently the 18-year old idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo despite playing with Lionel Messi at international level.
If this goes on he will most likely turn out to be a superstar.
