Teams at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar today have abandoned their rainbow themed armbands in fear of facing the consequences. The armbands are worn to show support to the LGBTQ.
Germany, England plus other teams have cited the threat of disciplinary action from FIFA. “FIFA has been very clear that it will impose sporting sanctions if our captains wear the armbands on the field of play,” they said in a joint statement.
