Netflix has released the first trailer for The Electric State, an upcoming sci-fi film set in an alternate 1990s where a robot uprising has left the world in ruins.
Based on Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 graphic novel, the film features Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown as Michelle, an orphaned teenager on a quest to find her missing brother.
Alongside her is a cheerful robot companion and Keats, a smuggler played by Chris Pratt, who brings his own robotic ally on their dangerous journey.
The trailer reveals a post-apocalyptic wasteland teeming with robots, from tiny machines to towering, building-sized behemoths.
As Michelle and Keats go through the Exclusion Zone—an area where robots live in exile—their mission is fraught with peril and suspense.
The film is directed by the acclaimed Russo brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo), known for their work on Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The Electric State boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, and Woody Norman, with voice performances from Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo, and Alan Tudyk.
Stream The Electric State when it premieres on Netflix on March 14, 2024.
