As Scientists admit that they failed to predict the severity of the floods, at least 110 people have been killed and many are missing in what is said to be the worst flooding to hit in decades. More houses are destroyed and more than 1000 people are missing. Further flooding is feared as mudslides also hit Western Germany.

Residents are being evacuated by authorities in the areas of Meuse river as days of heavy rain threaten historic flooding. Heavy rain has also battered parts of France, Switzerland and Netherlands. Experts and political leaders fear that climate change is already underway. This has pushed climate change to the front of German election campaign. Thousands of people have also been left in the dark as power supply has been cut off by the deadly floods. Rivers and reservoirs have burst their banks causing deadly flash floods.
