Looting and violence has escalated in South Africa after Zuma’s jailing ruling last week because of contempt of court. 6 people have at least , been killed after looting, brutality and violence. protesters have blocked roads, vehicles have been burnt as police forces try to contain the chaos and violence.

Zuma was last week sentenced to 15 months in prison. His lawyers tried to persuade the court that he is too weak to endure prison. Experts however think that this attempt has failed. He was found guilty of defying to answer to claims of corruption, which has been systematic during his 9 year presidency.

Troops have been deployed in two provinces in an effort to curb the protests. This will help the police in controlling and coping with Arson attacks. Since last week more than 200 people have been arrested in relation to the protests. The violence has shattered and disrupted most businesses and interfered with transport networks in Guateng and KwaZulu-Natal, the countries two richest provinces.
