Interest of men in the beauty industry has escalated in recent years. Not only are men taking care of themselves e.g., through pedicures, manicures, facials and the like but the once female dominated industry of make-up has now become rampant among men. Reagan Ndirangu , ‘‘Rigo”, is notable in the industry; his work is remarkable and precedes him.

Q. DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY AND WHAT YOU DO

A. Right of the batt, I am really outspoken, I also like to think of myself as being shy but also an extrovert, am very true to myself, and a makeup artist lol.

Q. HOW DID YOU BECOME A MAKE-UP ARTIST

A. I have always been a stun for all that glitz and glam life, even as a kid I would watch runways and just get goosebumps; just seeing how gorgeous the models looked so I guess that kinda came to play in me finding myself with such a love for being a part of that process of making people feel and look beautiful.

”Hahahaha!!!  Please translate this, I’ll say it in Swahili. “Ati Umekuwa Mweupe “guys that’s really not a compliment ………#colourism”

Q. DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE

A. Well, my style of makeup is usually very “proper” very classy you know, I really don’t intend it to come out that way, but almost all the looks I do come out very Oscar red carpet lol!!! Yeah, but seriously I enjoy doing that very dinner at the Villarosa fancy look, I also once in a while go wild and get creative and just create looks from my imagination, which I and a lot of people end up loving.

Q. BIGGEST MISONCEPTIONS ABOUT MALE MAKE UP ARTISTS

A. Hahaha! I don’t really know, are there any? I have one that’s not a misconception but 100% true, male MUAS are professionals, most of us live out our fantasies through our clients so if it’s an event we’re preparing you for, we do it like we are the ones going, at least I do.

Q. TAKE ON KENYAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

A. I Won’t talk much on music and film industry but all I’ll say is that its growing, I’ll however say that us as make-up artists are seeing growth, because make-up has become a staple in the entertainment scene, I mean it could of course grow more but it’s refreshing that a lot of gigs feature in a makeup budget, it’s nice

Q. WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A COMPLIMENT BUT IT’S ACTUALLY AN INSULT?

A. Hahahaha!!!  Please translate this, I’ll say it in Swahili. “Ati umekuwa mweupe “guys that’s really not a compliment ………#colourism

Q. BEST WAY TO GET YOUR ATTENTION

A. Mmmh!  I am honestly and genuinely drawn to effortlessness lol!! You see that presence that Beyonce has? Just her being there is already breathtaking. hahaha!  Precisely that, it applies to everything, makeup, fashion…

Q. BEST CELEBRITY MAKE UP THAT YOU STAN.

A. I will say that Kim Kardashian’s make up is always a stun, see that thing about effortlessness, her make up style is always that nude minimal no makeup make up look. I like that,

Q. 3 COMMON BEAUTY MISTAKES THAT WOMEN MAKE

A. 1. Eyebrows 2. NOT Matching their foundations to their actual complexion 3. Not being confident.

Q. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAKE UP AND PHOTOGRAPHY?

A. it’s just like what I said earlier about make up being featured more and more in entertainment, there has being a growth in that, and also make up gets people feeling confident and beautiful and they want to get that caught on camera so yessss!!!

Q. NETFLIX AND CHILL OR CLUBBING

A. I know all of you have a different idea of what Netflix and Chill is but I’ll say it right now, I mean NETFLIX AND CHILL just that! lol

Q. BASIC SKIN CARE PREPARATION BEFORE APPLYING MAKEUP …

A. Skin care skin care skin care, I cannot say it enough times, I know that make up is usually a quick fix to you know cover and conceal, but it’s that much more important to prevent that to cure right? This is why I don’t stop asking parents to introduce skin care to their children as early as possible, do your research as a parent make it a routine for them, let them grow into it, So Even away from having that serum and moisturizer under your make up , make it a routine to take care of your skin , it pays you off , I can attest to that.

Q. DRUGS AND ALCOHOL?

A. Let’s all be wise

Q. SOMETHING YOU WOULD SAY IF YOU WON AN AWARD

A. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Mom.

Q. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR

A. Just my willingness to break barriers, rewriting the definition of normal
