THE PC MARKET WINS AFTER DEMAND INCREASES DUE TO THE PANDEMIC

The PC market has experienced notable growth since 2020 according to Market research firm Gartner. The firm has reported that due to the pandemic, most people have been forced to work or study from home since 2020.

In 2020, the PC market experienced its first big growth in a decade.

Global PC Market grew again in 2021 due to increase in demand of traditional PCs.

Worldwide PC shipments totaled 88.4 million units in the fourth quarter of 2021, a 5% decrease from the fourth quarter of 2020, according to preliminary results by Gartner, Inc. This is the first year-over-year decline following six consecutive quarters of growth. For the year, PC shipments reached 339.8 million units in 2021, a 9.9% increase from 2020.

Global figures for the PC market remained positive throughout 2021.

Gartner reports that the US market was hit by supply chain issues in the fourth quarter of 2021 describing is as “collapse in demand for Chromebooks.” Meaning that the same growth might not continue in 2022.
