Mumbai rains wreaked havoc in India’s financial capital late Sunday. Heavy monsoon rains triggered landslides and other incidents including the collapse of a wall. Cars and houses were smushed causing desolation , ruin and total ruination. As heavy rains lashed the city, buildings were waterlogged, including Covid – 19 vaccination centers.
The streets of Mumbai were and still are flooded. 12 Million people live in Mumbai, poor areas with badly built and constructed houses suffer during the July-September rain season as most of this collapse. The Prime minister of India Modi Narendra offered his condolences to all the people affected.
Offices and most business establishments are closed in exemption of emergency services. As the 200mm rain continues to fall, the city remains devastated and with no answers. There aren’t enough measures to cope with the rains yet, despite increase in their frequency in the last years.
