She is a Young but equally skillful and lyrically gifted artist whose future in the Kenyan music Industry looks really bright. I would say even beyond, if her talent and music is anything to go by. She is versatile and her mix of Rap and Hip-Hop is excellent and has piqued the admiration of her fans.

Q. WHO IS ALMA

A. Alma is a talented, innovative and ambitious creative who has majored in rap as an art rather than a genre.

Q. DESCRIBE YOUR TYPE OF MUSIC/GENRE

A. My genre is Hip-hop/Rap. Am all about bars and flow.

Q. I LOVE YOUR FLOW AND LYRICS. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

A. I must say, my lyrics are inspired by personal experiences and day to day occurrences. So, if you hear me rap or sing it, just know i did it or I have been through it. Am trynna come up with this thing where people rap actual things, not just fixing words lol

DEEP SHHH-ALMA

Q. TELL ME ABOUT ‘’NEXT LIFE’’ AND ‘’DEEP SHHH’’. SERIOUSLY CONCIOUS MUSIC THERE

A.  The two are pieces of art, wrote them at crucial points in my life, so i think they’re kinda deep…and they talk about the reality and the sad truths. Am a sucker for all that deep stuff. Both songs are like my current masterpieces.

”The day the Kenyan industry will adjust to the current trends in the music business, is the day the industry will expand globally”.

Q. WHAT’S THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT YOU

A. Kila place me huenda people think am some kind of rich kid, which isn’t the case, lol.

Q. ACCORDING TO YOU, WHO ARE THE BIGGEST GENGETONE ARTISTS RIGHT NOW AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT GENGETONE

A. Uuumm,, right now , I think a lot of artists don’t want to be labeled as ‘Gengetone artists’ So, if you’d ask me like the biggest artist in Kenya generally, I’d say Sauti Sol maybe.

I think Gengetone is cool, honestly.

Q. APART FROM SSARU, WHICH OTHER COLLABORATIONS HAVE YOU DONE? WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST DREAM COLLABORATION LOCAL AND INTN’L

A.  I’ve collaborated with Boondocks Gang (Misbehave, Zimenyanya), Breeder (Denri), Those are the released songs, current projects, I have featured a couple of artists who y’all will get to know about after the releases.

Q. I HAVE TO TELL YOU ARE SERIOUSLY GOOD LOOKING, BUT THAT ASIDE, TELL ME ABOUT YOUR TATTOOS

A. Lol! My tattoos are pieces of art also. Yeah, so they kinda tell a story.

ALMA

Q. WHAT’S YOUR VIEW ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL?

A.  I think drugs and alcohol are seriously expensive and addictive hahaha

Q. WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A COMPLIMENT BUT IT’S ACTUALLY AN INSULT?

A. You look better in person

Q. THREE THINGS THAT PISSES YOU OFF.

A.  People who try to force themselves in someone’s life(simps), Lazy people, People who stare at others for no reason, jipe shugli bruh.

ALMA

Q. DO YOU THINK THERE IS PROFESSIONALISM AND DISCIPLINE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW?

A. Honestly, no.

Professionally we’re not there yet, but there’s potential. Artists have to understand the music as a business not only as an art. The day the Kenyan industry will adjust to the current trends in the music business, is the day the industry will expand globally.

Q. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR DREADLOCKS, PLUS ‘’Rastagyal’’ ON YOUR INSTAGRAM PAGE

A. Rastagyal just came out of nowhere, because it’s been on my Bio before I even got my dreadlocks. So, I can say, the name chose me, hahaha. My dreadlocks are mine lol, I had to get them because I wanted a simple but complex hairstyle so yeah. Not related to the Rastagyal name, but in a way, they complement each other.

Q. WHAT DO YOU THIINK SHOULD CHANGE IN THE KENYAN MUSIC INDUSTRY

A. The music business needs to be taught to artists. Kenyan artists barely have knowledge about the music markets, and it’s greatly affecting our industry.
