Actor Tom Cruise is well known for his stunts, which most of the time, he has admitted that he doesn’t even need a stunt double.
The 60-year-old Hollywood action veteran is set to become the first actor to shoot a film in space.
According to media reports, director Doug Liman, creator of ‘The Bourne Identity’ (2022) , wants to make a film set in outer space.
Doug Liman already presented the project in 2020 but the pandemic halted his plans.
Word is that the director and Tom Cruise have spoken to production company Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) about the actor taking a rocket to the International Space Station.
NY Post reports that UFEG Chairman Donna Langley confirms,
I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space.
That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom…Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting.”
Langley added that the film in question will mostly be filmed on Earth but features “the character [going] up to space to save the day. She also said that she is quite hopeful that Cruise will become “the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”
It has not yet been revealed what the project is exactly, nor when it will go into production.Â
