Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, director Ryan Coogler has revealed that the original plot for the film was different before the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman.
He shared with The Hollywood Reporter a different direction for the upcoming Marvel Studios film, before his death.
Speaking about the previous script for the sequel, Ryan Coogler said,
The script we wrote before Chadwick passed was very much rooted in T’Challa’s perspective,
It was a massive movie but also simultaneously a character study that delved deeply into his psyche and situation.”
The Black Panther has existed in Wakanda for centuries, so the notion of someone else picking up the mantle didn’t seem inorganic.”
Nate Moore, Marvel Studios’ Vice President of Production & Development, added.
Black Panther cast has also shared different opinions, in regard to how they feel without Chadwick Boseman’s absence in the sequel which is set to launch in theaters worldwide on Nov 11th. Cast member Lupita Nyong’o has referred to the production experience as “therapeutic” on one occasion. Lupita reprises the role of Nakia.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lupita has recently said that finding out about Chadwick’s passing “Paralyzed her.
She had known Boseman was sick but not that he was terminally ill. She learned of his death in a text from Viola Davis.
I couldn’t believe it,”
I was paralyzed.”

For her, as for many of the film’s cast and crew, Boseman had been much more than a colleague; he had been a kind of spiritual anchor.
He had an aura, he was the leader, and we were all good with it

By the end, I was weeping,”
says Lupita Nyong’o, after reading the rewritten Black Panther: Wakanda Forever script while processing the death of Chadwick Boseman.
