Lithuania photographer Dr. Eugenijus Kavaliauskas’ “Images of Distinction” winning photo is a picture of a close up of an ant’s face magnified five times.

The picture was a submission for the 2022 Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition.

The competition celebrates the art of microscope photography, which allows people to capture details the human eye cannot see.

The image was entered into Nikon‘s Small World Photomicrography contest and is titled Ant (Camponotus), and was shot on his Canon EOS R camera and a 65mm macro lens.

Eugenijus Kavaliauskas is a wildlife photographer.
