Paramount has announced plans to launch its streaming service, known as Paramount+, in Africa by 2024. Paramount will also expand its production facility.
Paramount revealed the information during a session at the just concluded Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), which was held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Paramount said that the company does not have plans to fund any productions fully, but rather they will be looking for people with whom we can share co-ownership.
The company is increasing its global streaming subscriber goal from 65-75 million to more than 100 million users by the end of 2024.
With Netflix now telling more African stories, Showmax doing the same, this will be a major boost in Africa’s film industry.
