African Heat, the sizzling playlist fueling the continent’s music scene, features a scorching lineup of 50 African tracks that have garnered
over 1 million likes.

With a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes, this curated collection is sure to keep listeners grooving to the hottest sounds from Africa.

Spotify’s popular African music playlist, African Heat, is undergoing a transformation, marking a new chapter for the platform’s prominent destination for African music.

With over one million followers, African Heat has played a significant role in introducing African music to global audiences in the streaming era.

It has served as a hub for discovering new and upcoming African hits, uniting fans with a shared passion for these iconic sounds.

Since its inception in 2018, African Heat has showcased influential songs and moments, including hits like Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti,” Wizkid’s “Essence,” and DBN Gogo’s “Love and Loyalty.”

The playlist has provided a platform for artists from all across the continent, offering emerging talents an opportunity to gain international exposure.

The revamped African Heat playlist will focus on increasing exposure and fostering awareness within Africa’s creator and listener communities.

Taking inspiration from public transportation in Africa, such as trotros, danfos, and matatus, the playlist’s rebranding aims to embody the movement and vibrancy of African music.

The playlist’s new visual identity features a redesigned cover with registration number-inspired borders, speedometer dials, and a gradient reflecting the various forms of heat.

The campaign will also include contributions and conversations with emerging and established African artists, as well as live elements to bring the new African Heat experience to life and engage listeners.
