Disney has unveiled the official trailer for its live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, featuring Halle Bailey as Ariel, which premiered during the 2023 Oscars.
The trailer starts with a dramatic scene where Prince Eric and his crew face a deadly storm and have to abandon ship. Ariel comes to their rescue and eventually falls in love with Eric.
As in the original film, she makes a deal with Ursula to become human, but things go awry, putting both her life and King Triton’s crown in danger. The cast includes Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Art Malik as Grimsby.
The movie also introduces a new character, Queen Selina, played by Noma Dumezweni. Additionally, Daveed Diggs voices Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay plays Flounder, and Awkwafina portrays Scuttle.
