According to an official announcement by Disney and confirmed by Dwayne Johnson – a live-action adaptation of Moana is currently in development.
The movie will feature Dwayne Johnson returning to play the character of Maui, which he portrayed in the animated version.
Dwayne Johnson has expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to retell the story with the help of Disney, using the expressive mediums of music and dance, which are integral to Polynesian culture.
He also paid homage to his grandfather, who had a significant influence on his life.
