OpenAI has recently unveiled its official iOS app for ChatGPT, catering to users who wish to access the popular AI chatbot while on the move.
This move comes after the App Store became inundated with unofficial and dubious services claiming to offer similar functionality.
The ChatGPT app, which will initially be available only to users in the United States, will be free to use and devoid of advertisements.
It will also support voice input, allowing users to interact with the chatbot using spoken commands.
Similar to the desktop version, the ChatGPT app enables users to engage with an AI chatbot for various purposes such as querying information without resorting to traditional web searches, receiving advice, finding inspiration, learning, conducting research, and more.
With Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, facing certain limitations and Apple’s comparatively slower progress in the field of AI, the introduction of the ChatGPT app may entice more users to adopt it as their primary mobile assistant.
Google could potentially be affected by this release, as it currently benefits from being the default search engine in Safari on Apple’s iPhones.
We’re starting our rollout in the US and will expand to additional countries in the coming weeks. Android users, you’re next! ChatGPT will be coming to your devices soon.
