Charles Ouda, a former actor on Makutano Junction and presenter of Know Zone, has passed away at the age of 38.
His family, along with fiancée Ciru Muriuki, announced the sad news in a statement, requesting privacy for the grieving process.
The family appealed for space to mourn the loss and shared that more details would be provided in the future.
Ouda’s death occurred just six months after his engagement to media personality Ciru Muriuki.
Charles Ouda, known for his multifaceted career as an actor, director, songwriter, filmmaker, editor, scriptwriter, voice-over artist, and event manager, had a significant impact on the Kenyan entertainment industry.
He hosted the children’s show Know Zone on Citizen TV and was a notable actor in the KBC drama series Makutano Junction, which ran for over 10 seasons.
His acting journey began over 11 years ago at the Kenya National Theatre in Eric Wainaina’s ‘Lwanda, Man of Stone.’
Ouda also played various roles in films and TV shows like Changing Times, Higher Learning, Mali, and Kona, broadcasted on major Kenyan TV stations.
Having trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, Ouda’s achievements included winning the Best Director Prize and the 72-Hour Shoot Out Judges Choice Award at the Asian American Film Lab Awards in 2016 for his movie Who Are You.
He also received recognition at the Kalasha International Awards for Best Television Host and won the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Monologue at the Kenya Theatre Awards Roll of Honour.
