Creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the infamous Peaky Blinders gang will be making their return to Birmingham, this time on the silver screen.
Led by Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby, filming is set to commence in England’s West Midlands in September.
The film will take place during World War II, a few years after the events depicted in the television series, which unfolded in the aftermath of World War I.
Discussing Murphy’s involvement in the film, Knight stated, “He is definitely returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth. The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know what two stories it’s going to tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know,” in an interview with Esquire and BirminghamWorld earlier this year.
While details about the rest of the cast remain undisclosed, you can anticipate the Peaky Blinders film to hit screens around 2025.
