Investigative journalist John Allan Namu recently reflected on the challenges and triumphs encountered during the conclusion of the latest season of his groundbreaking investigative series, “The Last Door.”
Known for its deep dives into Kenya’s most notorious crimes, the series aims to uncover hidden truths surrounding infamous cases.
In a heartfelt message shared with his audience, Namu expressed gratitude to those who supported the production of the series.
He particularly thanked individuals who courageously shared their stories.
As we wind up this season of The Last Door I would like to thank some people for their support. To every one of those who chose to speak to us, bearing their grief with dignity and abiding in hope for justice for their loved ones, thank you.
Acknowledging the behind-the-scenes efforts, Namu extended appreciation to the dedicated team members who provided logistical support, drove to assignments, and contributed their expertise and sources. He also commended fellow journalists for their collaborative spirit.
To everyone who drove us to and from our assignments, Anto, Freddy and a few others, asantenti. To all the journalists who volunteered their time, insights and sources, thank you. You guys have restored my faith in the belief that Kenyan journalists can and do collaborate with one another – guys I can’t thank you enough.
Namu reserved special praise for the experts who patiently answered his inquiries, promising even more probing questions in future seasons.
To the experts who tolerated my silly questions, if there is a season three prepare for more bothering.
He credited the exceptional team at Africa Uncensored, including Elijah Kanyi, Jonathan, Tim Mwaura, Cathy Muema, and Soni Biko, for their stellar contributions to the series’ success.
Expressing gratitude to viewers for their engagement and feedback, Namu hinted at the series’ availability on Showmax Kenya in the near future.
He also thanked his family for their unwavering support, despite the demanding nature of his work.
In a lighthearted anecdote, Namu shared a memorable moment from the field, recounting an incident where he was besieged by bedbugs while awaiting an interview. With a touch of humor, he described the scene as colleague Elijah Kanyi captured the unexpected encounter on film.
Here’s a picture from one of the weirdest moments. Sat somewhere and got devoured by bedbugs while waiting for an interview. Elijah Kanyi filmed as I tore off my shirt to inspect damage . Mungu anakuona 🥲
