Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum to Star in Romantic Comedy ‘Fly Me To The Moon’
In Sony and Apple’s upcoming romantic comedy “Fly Me To The Moon,” Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum portray star-crossed lovers embarking on a mission to achieve a Moon landing.
Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, the film follows Kelly Jones (played by Johansson) and Cole Davis (played by Tatum), whose paths intersect unexpectedly at a bar.
Davis, a NASA launch director, is determined to secure a victory for the United States in the Space Race against the Soviet Union, but faces challenges when the Apollo 11 mission encounters setbacks.
As chaos ensues, Jones, a marketing expert, is recruited to assist in promoting the lunar mission. In a twist, she also covertly prepares a “backup version” of the landing scene in case the actual mission fails.
The ensemble cast includes Woody Harrelson, Jim Rash, and Ray Romano, along with Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg, and Christian Zuber in supporting roles.
Greg Berlanti stepped in as director of “Fly Me To The Moon” after Ozark’s Jason Bateman’s departure due to creative differences.
Initially, Chris Evans was slated to play Tatum’s role, but production delays caused by Bateman’s exit led to scheduling conflicts, prompting a change in casting.
The film will be out in July.
