Yes, it has been confirmed that a fifth film in the John Wick franchise is in early development.
During a Lionsgate earnings call, Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake announced that John Wick 5 is back on the table after the success of John Wick: Chapter 4.
Chad Stahelski, who directed the previous films in the franchise, is expected to return as the director, and Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as the titular character, John Wick.
The fourth film, John Wick: Chapter 4, performed well at the box office, earning $73.8 million (domestically)and receiving an A Cinema Score from audiences.
It also had an impressive overseas debut, making $141.1 million. The positive reception and financial success of the fourth film have led to the decision to move forward with a fifth installment.
However, while the studio is open to the idea of a fifth film, there is no guarantee that it will happen.
Drake mentioned that the ending of the fourth film leaves room for interpretation, and the filmmakers will take a break before exploring ideas for a credible way to continue the story in the fifth movie.
