Four years ago, South African house singer-songwriter Lady Zamar took a significant step by officially filing a rape case against hip-hop artist Sjava, who had also been her former partner.
The case revolved around an alleged incident in 2017 when Lady Zamar claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Sjava following a joint performance at the Royal Heritage Festival in Limpopo, South Africa.
Lady Zamar had previously hinted at being a survivor of abuse in a past relationship, although she didn’t initially name Sjava.
In a Twitter (X) thread, she courageously detailed her emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, expressing her desire to end the media speculation surrounding her experiences.

Sjava responded to these allegations in 2019 through a statement, stating that he wouldn’t engage in discussions of assault and abuse on social media, as legal proceedings had been initiated in the South African high court, rendering the matter sub judice.

The rape charges against Sjava had been dropped, but Lady Zamar affirmed her commitment to the truth and expressed her hope for her day in court.
However, she had decided to prioritize her healing and personal growth. She has remarked,
