A24 has just released the official trailer for its upcoming film “Priscilla,” directed by Sofia Coppola.
The movie shifts the focus onto one of the most prominent figures in the music industry, Priscilla Presley, who was the first lady in the life of the King of Rock, Elvis.
STORYLINE (A24) – Starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny
When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a gentle best friend.
Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.
The couple’s relationship spanned a decade, with six years of marriage.
The trailer offers a glimpse into their tumultuous love story, portrayed by Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny.
The film traces their courtship, starting when she was a 14-year-old encountering the 24-year-old singer in Germany.
From classrooms to Graceland, the narrative takes Priscilla on a journey, showcasing her transformation from a young girl into a fashion icon and a young mother, all while dealing with the challenges of fame and her husband’s fluctuating moods.
“Priscilla” made its debut at the Venice Film Festival, and during the SAG-AFTRA strike, a temporary agreement allowed the cast to attend the festival to promote the film.
Coppola described the film as a true independent project, even mentioning a creative fundraising idea involving a pickleball game with Elordi.
“Priscilla” is set to be released on November 3.
