Award winning actor, Radio/TV presenter, Director, Playwright – Nick Ndeda plays Tehi in Showmax’ popular series ‘Second Family’.
Second Family returned for Season 2 on September 14th.
Nick Ndeda, a fan favorite – has really transformed this season. His character Tehi, once the “drinking and womanizing rich kid”, – has undergone a remarkable evolution in Season 2. He is now a crafty and cunning figure, shedding the clichés associated with his character from Season 1.
During the start of the season he said,
Now, we recently had a conversation with him about his role, how willing he is to take risks on screen, his future plans, and whether the film industry should be more open to exploring strong themes like LGBTQ, drugs, alcohol in their raw form, and more.
How does Tehi’s role compare to other roles you have played before?
I’ve played a medic (18 Hours), a rapper (Shuga), a lawyer (Selina) and a taxi driver (Jacob’s Cross)…all very upstanding members of society…the good guys.
Tehi is the opposite. A menace who talks foul and is reckless. He’s so much fun to play.
What similarities does Tehi share with you as Nick Ndeda? Are you both players?
First off, Tehi is not a player. He is just a junkie who loves sherehe…we are similar hapo Kwa sherehe…I love a good time. The rest of his traits are almost 100% opposite of me.
Second Family is one of the most Loved Showmax series at the moment, your character Tehi is also one of the most loved…How does that feel? Who is your favorite cast member or members?
I’m glad people are watching it. It’s a great show thanks to the hard work from all cast and crew. I love them all.
You have really grown in your career, what are you looking forward to in the next few years?
I hope to get a lead role in a film or series and also developing my own projects.
We cooking one already!
Is the film industry daring enough in terms of themes of LGBTQ, Drugs & Alcohol – What do you wish was scripted differently?
What would you dare to do that you have not done before on screen?
I wish it was darker because it’s important for people to know how bad drugs and alcohol can be for example. What would I dare to do??
Always wanted to do a nude scene coz I think I have a good body
Do you think we need to be more open minded in how scripting, production is being done…although there’s limitations…..🤷🤷
Really good films like Rafiki with very little LGBTQ themes banned..
We need to embrace that to be relevant and not just the plain old?
We do need to but unfortunately Kenya is a Christian nation and our president and government are against LGBTQ issues. I was in a movie about that that got banned (Stories of our lives).
So…we can only hope for change at this point.
We can’t wait to see what project Nick “is cooking”.
Watch him in Second Family on Showmax, Season 2 is now streaming.
