Stycie Waweru is an Award Winning Kenyan young actress and Voice over Artist.

A high-spirited fireball with major international projects already listed on her IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base)

Just in Time in 2021 (Ashley), Super Sema (TV Series) in 2021 (Sema), Lusala in 2019 (Bakhita), Supa Modo in 2018 (JO); yet her dreams are ceaseless.

She will be 14 Years old this year.

Soon she will be a part of a main cast in an international film as “Taytu”, she tells me more about this and her wish that more kids/teenagers were given more opportunities in local film projects and media at large.

She is vocal and definitely does not tuck away her insight on key issues.

Q. HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF

Am a very Ambitious girl. I would love to make it big in the acting industry and build a name for myself. I would like to pave way for kids and teens in the industry to Find opportunities and discover their talents. Stycie is a fun-loving girl who loves watching Anime, Movies, listening to music, Creating TikTok videos and just having fun with her life.

Q. WHAT ARE THE MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR ACTING CAREER

It has to be travelling. I have travelled a lot for Film Festivals. I have been to Poland, Germany, Qatar, Senegal, Russia. The different experiences in different countries is amazing.

Q.  HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE KENYAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY?

The Kenyan Entertainment Industry is definitely growing at a good pace. In 10- 20 years from now we will have caught up with other countries. Especially in music, artists are now more proactive. However, I would like teens and kids to dominate in music and also on screen and performing arts.

Q. THREE THINGS THAT YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT

  • My Phone. I need to take pictures, watch videos.
  • Headphones or Ear pads, I love listening to music. I enjoy pop music & rock music.
  • A book. Right now, am re-reading Harry Potter. (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) If am bored, I can always read a book.

My View on TikTok; For Girls’, Teens are forced to glow up and grow up, because they feel the need to look 21. “This can really mess up with your self-esteem.

Q. MOST OUTRAGEOUS FASHION TRENDS TODAY

I watched a runway show and the models were on full garbage bags as dresses.

📸 BLACK TRASH BAG DRESS ON PINTEREST

That has to be the weirdest fashion trend I have seen in a while. I could also get a garbage bag and also call it high-fashion. 😄😄 .That was weird.

📸 “This leather bin bag costs $423 and yes, fashion is literally trash” – MASHABLE

Q. WHAT’S YOUR VIEW ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL?

Stay away from Drugs and Alcohol. It is not worth it. Do not be involved. We all know the risks; we know they can ruin our lives. I have seen people falling into depression because they can not stop their drug addiction. If you have a friend struggling with drugs and alcohol, be there for them.

Q. WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON THE KENYAN FILM INDUSTRY

Teenagers and kids are lacking in most of our projects. They do not have to wait until they are much older to be a part of them. Questions like “What do you want to be when you grow up” need to change. Let us give them morale. There are so many opportunities for kids in Hollywood. I get more international projects than local projects. Let’s show them that there is representation of them so that they can be encouraged to do it too.

Q. WHAT DOES PROFESSIONALISM MEAN TO YOU IN THE MEDIA INDUSTRY

It is very important to differentiate when to be serious and when to mess around. Most people do not take this seriously.  Some people can not differentiate the two so they are always having fun when they should be serious.

Q. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR NEW PROJECT, YOU ARE ‘TAYTU’ IN A NEW INTERNATIONAL FILM?

It is mostly about women empowerment. I have already read the script and I love the project. The project is awesome. During the audition I was asked what I would do if I were the President, I definitely would give women more opportunities to lead, I see that is lacking in most countries.

(Would you rather)

Q. WOULD YOU RATHER BE THE PERSON WHO FLIPS THE SWITCH DURING EXECUTIONS OR BE THE JUDGE WHO DECIDES WHO WILL BE EXECUTED

I would rather be the judge who decides who will be executed. I do not think I can deal with the guilt of killing someone. There is an Anime I watched (Dorohedoro) about a guy who was executing, it really affected him. I would definitely prefer being the judge but make sure my judgement is very neutral. I would not want someone to die because of my bad judgement.

Q. YOU WISH THERE WAS THE MINISTRY OF?

TALENT

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT?

I would make sure kids are incorporated in the media industry. Entertainment, acting. I would make sure that in every school there is a talent sector where kids can discover their talent. Use the ministry to give kids a platform, even those in the streets and are talented. Kids need to know the value of their talents. Make sure there is finances for their projects.
